Joseph C.  Smith, 88 of Grove City, passed away at 8:25P.M., Friday November 25, 2016 at Grove Manor Nursing Home.

Born on August 6, 1928 in Boyers, he was a son of the late Robert T. and Althea L. Kohlmyer.

He was a 1947 graduate of Grove City High School.

Joe retried after 34 years at Cooper Energy in Grove City.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking and over the years made many beautiful cabinets, rocking horses, eagles and many other projects in his woodworking shop.

Joe also enjoyed traveling to places such as Virginia Beach, VA and California where he loved to whale watch. Above all, Joe loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were truly the light of his world.

On August 16, 1948 he married the former Clara A. Lindey and she preceded his in death on April 14, 2000.

Surviving are two sons; Robert Smith and his wife Marlene of Grove City and Garth Smith of Portland, OR; two daughters, Terry Wogan and her husband John Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA and Loie Varner and her husband Richard of Los Gatos, CA; eleven grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas M. Smith and a sister, Bonnie Jean Gardner.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jamison Funeral Home Inc., 117 N. Main St. Harrisville where family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Friday.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home.

Interment will be made at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
