Mary Francis McAvoy, 74 of Slippery Rock, passed away at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday March 12, 2017 at her residence and surrounded by her family.

Born March 27, 1942 in Clarksburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia Belsito Marra.

She was a graduate of Washington – Irving High School in Clarksburg, WV and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh.

Fran worked for 22 years at Seski & Associate Cancer Doctors in Pittsburgh and also Butler Hospital as a Radiation Technician for eight years.

Fran was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.

On July 3, 1965, she married John Edward McAvoy and he preceded her in death on August 17, 2005.

Surviving is a son John E. McAvoy of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren, Madeline F. Leiendecker and her husband Andrew of Plum, Mara E. Papley and her husband Anthony of Slippery Rock, John E. A. McAvoy of Slippery Rock and Maria T. McAvoy of Slippery Rock; three great-grandchildren, Emma Jean Leiendecker, Haley Jade Leiendecker, and Lilyona Grace Leiendecker all of Plum; and one sister, Bobbie Oliveriao of Clarksburg, WV.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, David Oliveriao.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no public visitation.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jamison Funeral Home Inc., 117 N. Main St. Harrisville where a Blessing Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday with Rev. Msgr. James T. Gaston, Pastor of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Murrysville, officiating.
