Caroline K. Kale, 96 of Slippery Rock passed away Easter Sunday at Grove Manor on April 4, 2021.
Caroline was born June 21, 1924 in Boyers. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Rich Marterella.
She married Wardine D. Kale Sr. on October 27, 1945, he preceded her in death.
Caroline was a member of St. Anthony Church in Forestville. She was a member of the former Christian Mother group in the church. She worked for 14 years at Slippery Rock University in housekeeping.
Caroline enjoyed playing cards in her younger years and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. She was always busy cooking and cleaning in her home and lovingly acquired the nick name Zippy from her son because she was always zipping around the house.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her daughters Betty Baldo and her husband Richard of Slippery Rock, Cindy Thompson formerly of West Sunbury, Carol Kennedy and her husband John of Slippery Rock and Barbara Surrena and her husband David of Grove City. Her grandchildren; Ryan (Rhonda) Surrena, Alan (Kara) Surrena, Diona (Regis) Brick, Yvonne (Jim) Gamble, Jenna (Ryan) Enscoe, Christina Barkley, Katie (Josh) Geiwitz, great grandchildren Grace, Garrett, Matthew, Cameron, Chelli, Jon, Alexis, Tony, Brody, Carlyssa, Isabelle, Luke and Jordan.
In addition to her husband, she was welcomed into heaven by her parents, her son Wardine D. Kale Jr., her son-in-law Butch Thompson, brother Charles Marterella and her sister Delores Parenti Rose.
Family will receive friends at the Jamison McKinley Funeral Home, 117 North Main Street, Harrisville on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Caroline’s funeral mass will take place at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, PA on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Adam Verona.
Caroline’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Hoyt for the 36 years of care and compassion he had for their mother. Her family also wishes to acknowledge the exceptional care provided by the entire staff at Grove Manor during her last nine years.
