Furrie Bonetti Obituary

Furrie V. Bonetti, 92, of Slippery Rock passed away September 17, 2021 at Butler Hospital.

Furrie was born January 22, 1929 in Boyers PA. He was the son of the late James and Minnie "Diane" Bonetti. Furrie received his education in Boyers. Furrie married Dora A. Leone on November 15, 1952. The couple would have celebrated 69 years of marriage this November.

Furrie retired from Slippery Rock University in 1991 where he worked in the maintenance department. Prior to working at the college, Furrie worked at Pullman Standard in Butler for 20 years.

Furrie proudly served his country in the US Army where he fought in the Korean War on the front lines for 10 months and 8 days.

Furrie was deeply devoted to his wife and family. He provided his family with all that was denied him growing up during the Great Depression. His love of life was reflected in his engaging personality and his constant smile. To the end, he reached out to family and friends to engage in conversation and ensure they were okay. Furrie took great pride in the home, which he built and continued to maintain until recently. He was an avid gardener and provided special care to his beloved geraniums. Furrie enjoyed woodworking and recently built birdhouses for each of his children and grandchildren.

Furrie was a member of St. Peter Parish in Slippery Rock and was a former member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Boyers. He was also a member of the former Sons of Italy in Boyers, Grove City Knights of Columbus, VFW in Slippery Rock and Disabled American Veterans.

Loved ones to cherish his memory include his wife Dora of Slippery Rock, his son Dennis Bonetti and his wife Patricia of Hollidaysburg, his daughter Darlene Marnich of Grove City, and his daughter Deborah Giroux and her husband Rob of Virginia Beach, VA. His grandchildren Matt, Spencer, Trevor and Zachary all cherish their grandfather. His siblings Eugene Bonetti of Butler, James (Marge) Bonetti of Boyers, Virginia Hockenberry of Harrisville and Carmela Critchlow (Bob) of Butler survive him.

Furrie was welcomed into heaven by his parents, six brothers, and his son-in-law Jim Marnich.
