A woman of prayer and faith, and the heart of her family; Rita Vincent (Werner) passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2023. She is finally reunited with her family and friends who were called before her.
Rita was born on the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA where she attended St. Benedict’s Academy & Most Holy Name Catholic School. In 1947 she traded street car rides for country roads and joined her parents on the farm in Harrisville where she met her husband William “Bill” Vincent who she married in 1951. Together they worked hard to make a great life for their girls.
Rita worked at the Slippery Rock University until 1997 when she retired as head custodian.
Rita was a simple woman. She took pride in her home and yard and loved planting flowers and vegetables. If she wasn’t sitting on the porch watching the birds and doing word search puzzles, she was with her best friend her Aunt Eleda. They were our Golden Girls and made the perfect team, on and off the Jart Court.
Sundays were her favorite day of the week. She looked forward to going to mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, where she was a member of Christian Mothers. She loved spending time with her girls having dinner and playing cards. She never passed up an opportunity to set you at 500 bid or Pinochle.
Rita is survived by her daughters Debbie and Kathy Vincent, both of Harrisville; her granddaughter Trisha Parenti of Harrisville (who was her favorite); her sister Joanne Reiner of Pittsburgh; her nephews Daniel (Karen) Reiner and Steven (Michelle) Reiner both of Pittsburgh and her aunt Eleda Snyder of Harrisville.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Loretta Werner, her husband William Vincent and a brother-in-law Clarence Reiner.
The family will welcome friends at the Jamison McKinley Funeral Home, 117 North Broad Street, Harrisville, on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held for Rita in the St. Anthony Church on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville following the Mass.
Rita was under the care or the Good Samaritan Hospice of Cabot. Thank you to Tammy, McKensie & Anna for your special care.
